Downtown Tyler’s resurgence of activity has been led by the opening of the Liberty Theater on the square. The Liberty hosts symphony concerts, music events for country, rock, jazz, folk and many other types. Recent activities have included live comedy improv performances. Each fall, the Liberty Theater is the performance venue for downtown Tyler’s Gallery Main Street’s movie shorts. Gallery Main Street’s movie shorts attracted 70 submissions. Eight of these were from out of the United States.

The attention brought to downtown Tyler by the Liberty Theater’s music events, movie shorts, Gallery Main Street’s art walks has been a key in the revitalization of downtown life.
